The National Technical Training Institute was officially founded in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 29/12/1999 by Sub-Degree no 109 dated 24/10/2001 in the post of the department of Ministry of Education, Youths and Sports.

The institute was originally known as Preach Kossomak Technical and Vocational Training Centre until 1999 when it became Technical Training Center. On 29/12/1999, the center was granted institute status by the Ministry of Education, Youths and Sports and has hence been known as the National Technical Training Institute.

Currently, National Technical Training Institute is a state-owned education institute under the direction of Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, which has taken over the control of the institute since 2004. The inspiration for the establishment of this institute came from the founder’s desire to establish an educational institution to train students in theoretical and practical experiment, and academic ability.
