On November 4, 2024, the launch ceremony for the "China-ASEAN 2030 TVET Flagship Courses Sharing Initiative" , a new program initiated by the SEAMEO TED, was grandly held in Wuhan.

The event was attended by Dr. Songheang Ai, Centre Director of SEAMEO TED, Chun Sen, Vice Head of Technical Education and Training Divison, Special Advisor Qin Ziyan, as well as Zhou Jun, Chairman of Wuhan Lianyuan Education Technology Co., Ltd., Zhao Xiaohua, Vice Chairman and General Manager, Deputy General Managers Li Jian and Zhang Shuli, and Yu Qi, General Manager of GO STUDY.

At the event, Dr. Songheang Ai signed the launch document for the China-ASEAN 2030 TVET Flagship Courses Sharing Initiative and delivered a speech. He emphasized that Southeast Asian countries and China, as major forces in Asia, have always maintained close cooperation. In the field of vocational education, there is vast space for cooperation and infinite potential for development. As the leader in technical education development in Southeast Asia, SEAMEO TED is committed to improving regional technical education, finding sustainable talent solutions, and promoting economic and technological development in the region. The China-ASEAN 2030 TVET Flagship Courses Sharing Initiative aims to promote high-quality digital courses from Chinese institutions through the China-ASEAN Technical Education Cooperation Platform (CATECP), training more skilled talents for the region and supporting the development of SEA countries.

During the ceremony, Dr. Songheang Ai presented an authorization plaque to Wuhan Lianyuan Education Technology Co., Ltd. on behalf of SEAMEO TED. Zhou Jun, Chairman of Wuhan Lianyuan Education provided a detailed introduction of the project implementation plan. Lianyuan Education will take advantage of the company's international influence and rich experience in vocational education to complete the production and promotion of 600 TVET high-quality courses in six years from 2024 to 2030, so as to jointly help China and SEA to reach a new level in the construction of vocational education curricula.

The implementation of the China-ASEAN 2030 TVET Flagship Courses Sharing Initiative will not only benefit the talent cultivation of vocational colleges and the training needs of employees of enterprises in the SEAMEO member countries, but also help Chinese invested enterprises and colleges and universities to share the opportunities of SEA's development. At the ceremony, Dr. Songheang Ai called for more outstanding Chinese vocational colleges to participate in the program, to build a bridge of communication and growth for the youth and enterprises of the two countries, and to jointly promote the prosperity of the regional economy.

After the ceremony, SEAMEO TED delegation visited Hubei Water Resources Technical College and Hubei Land Resources Vocational College. They engaged in discussions with the leaders of both institutions regarding international exchange and cooperation under the international exchange and cooperation under the "Vocational Education Going Global" Initiative, China-ASEAN 2030 TVET Flagship Courses Sharing Initiative. Both colleges expressed their interest in further cooperation with SEAMEO TED in areas such as talent development, regular visits, student research, and teacher training exchange.
