Pioneering New Paths for Vocational Education Going Global

In response to the Belt and Road Initiative for educational cooperation and to explore high-quality development pathways for vocational education going global through the “Chinese + Vocational Skills”, the official delegation from Sichuan Vocational College of Cultural Industries, led by Vice President Mr. Li Taibin, visited Indonesia from September 9 to 13, 2024. The visit aimed to establish partnerships with Indonesian universities, promote the implementation of the China-ASEAN Integrated Media Talent Training Base, build an international exchange platform, and enhance the international standing of the school’s high-level major groups under the Double High Plan. 

The delegation also visited Chinese-invested enterprises in Indonesia, focusing on the vocational skills development needs of employees in Chinese-invested industrial parks This effort explored pathways for the school's "Vocational Education Going Global" initiative, aimed at empowering Chinese enterprises to “Going Global” by providing technical and skills training for local employees. The delegation included representatives from the Department of External Cooperation and Exchanges, the School of Media Convergence, the School of Cultural Business, the School of Cultural Information, and relevant faculty member from the School of Media Convergence.

During the visit, the delegation met with Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia, Ma Chung University, Sichuan Changhong Indonesia, and Speeds Indonesia. Two strategic cooperation agreements were signed with Indonesian universities, and several joint projects were promoted, including the establishment of the China-ASEAN Integrated Media Talent Training Base.

On the morning of September 11, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed with Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia, followed by the plaque unveiling ceremony of the China-ASEAN Integrated Media Talent Training Base. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on proposed cooperative projects such as online joint teaching, short-term student exchanges, and skills training. In the afternoon, Wang Yusu, full-time lecturer at the School of Media Convergence, delivered the first offline overseas training session on “Webcasting and New Media Industry Status” for students at Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia, marking the beginning of vocational training collaboration between the two institutions.

On September 12, the delegation visited Ma Chung University and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with each other, and discussed potential cooperative projects, including short-term study tours, international student exchanges, and Chinese + skills training.

The delegation also visited Chinese-invested enterprises in Indonesia, gaining insights into the development trends and actual needs of these enterprises. Both sides discussed offering online and offline skills training to improve local employees' vocational skills and reached preliminary cooperative agreements, which will support the sustainable growth of Chinese enterprises overseas.

This visit successfully achieved all objectives for the delegation, marking a solid step forward for Sichuan Vocational College of Cultural Industries in the internationalization of vocational education and in exploring new paths for vocational education abroad. The school will utilize the partnerships and exchange platforms established during this visit to enhance collaboration with universities and enterprises in Indonesia and other ASEAN countries, fostering connectivity and mutual development.At the same time, we will continue to maintain cooperation with the China-ASEAN Technical Education Cooperation Platform and provide high-quality Chinese vocational education curriculum resources to ASEAN countries.
